Beach folk race time, tide
Mokau locals have banded together to build a seawall to defeat northerly seas expected to threaten baches again this week.

Authorities are turning a blind eye to the illegal seawall, which would normally require a resource consent.
Earlier this month, stormy seas sucked metres of frontage from properties on the seaward side of the sandspit at the mouth of the Mokau River.
It will be crunch time this week for at least two of the houses when more big tides, again driven by north-westerlies, are predicted.
Without the wall, the baches would end up on the beach, point resident Bev Christiansen said yesterday.
