Minister of Housing Steve Maharey says the Government has allocated $128.9 million over the next three years to buy new homes in the Auckland region.
The money will allow Housing New Zealand to build or lease 460 homes in north-west Auckland.
It will also be used to buy 107 new homes.
But Child Poverty Action Group housing spokesman Alan Johnson isn't impressed.
