New houses & schools for Papakura

The Housing and Education departments have combined to plan a new development on surplus defence land at Papakura

Housing New Zealand and the Education Ministry have bought 36 hectares of former defence land in Papakura for new housing and schooling.

The Ministry of Defence declared the land surplus in 1993.

The Education Ministry has bought 12 hectares and will develop a range of educational facilities including an early childhood centre.

Housing New Zealand's taken 24 hectares, enough for 300 to 400 new homes.
