The attraction of cutting through the hype of property price talk is bringing increasing numbers of people online.

Two New Zealand websites – Terranet and Quotable Value – dedicated to tracking and providing individual property information, including sale prices, are being inundated with queries.
With just a house address, a user can instantly see how much a house was sold for, instantly negating the rumours that often swirl around property prices.
In the past only those groups with a stake in the property market, such as banks and real estate agents, have sought such information.
But the national obsession with property prices means the public is now also flocking online to see how their house price – and that of their neighbours and friends – is moving.
Quotable Valuation (QV) product manager Mike Hyde said a recent promotion had meant his site was inundated with casual users. "With the property market moving so much in the past two years people want to see how much their property has gone up."
QV collates public information from councils around New Zealand to form its database which offers a sales-price history for properties, site information, and the sales price history of neighbouring houses.
