That comment by councillor Heather Brown at Wednesday's council meeting expressed anger at plans to sting Shore ratepayers with a 10.7 per cent regional rates rise.

The Shore's residential rates rise is more than double the average regional rates increase of 4.8 per cent for 2005-2006.

Businesses on the Shore face an average increase of about 8 per cent.
