Mr Buchanan says Waitakere City Council is playing favourites with its five-year plan to revitalise Henderson.

New Lynn should be getting the same sort of attention, he says.

"The whole place is falling down," Mr Buchanan says. "We're dealing with drugs, smoking and graffiti. These issues have not been addressed."

Henderson is getting a new transport centre, library and civic centre.

Mayor Bob Harvey says the retail sector will also be revamped, with more street cafes and bars up for consideration.
