House prices continue momentum in Taranaki

Taranaki's property market has regained momentum after house prices dipped in April.

The region's median house price in May increased to $213,750 from the previous month's $162,637, according to the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand.

The figure is still less than the $220,000 recorded in March.

Taranaki had the largest year-on-year increase, with 44.42%.

Sale volumes are also up, with 282 houses sold last month, compared with April's 192.

It took a median of 27 days to sell a house in the region, three less than in the previous month.


The median price of a section was $87,775. The total value of sales for May was $67,300,910.
