The Ashwood Valley Home, at Waitati, is being sold as land and buildings, about three months after another home, the Andersons Bay Home and Hospital, closed its doors.

Ashwood shareholder-directors John and Christine Carter did not return calls yesterday, but the Otago Daily Times understands the home will officially close on Friday, affecting between 10 and 15 jobs.

The Otago District Health Board confirmed the approximately nine residents had been relocated, with sources saying most went to another home in St Clair.

Industry insiders, who warned flat occupancies and stagnant government subsidies meant the Andersons Bay closure would not be the last, yesterday warned the situation was now much worse.
