Minority group out of line - developer

Vision Kerikeri's ambition to play a role in future planning in Kerikeri is damaging to the town says Kerikeri commercial property owner Mark Evans.

"This is a minority vigilante group which is opposing what their elected representatives have put in place for the town. They had time to have their say. I am very concerned that Kerikeri will suffer massively economically if outside investors read stories about Vision Kerikeri and its activities."

He accuses the group of being anti Kerikeri, in effect.

"This is a re-hash of issues which have been dealt with democratically through our elected representatives. Our council deserves our support. It is very unhealthy to establish a minority group of planning vigilantes to put their spin on what our town should be."

Mr Evans said he fully supported the construction of a nine level building in Kerikeri, or even higher. And while he would not like to see strip development along Kerikeri Road, he says it is not the role of Vision Kerikeri to police planning.
