An Armourguard security guard was posted outside the closed doors of Devon St pub The Bull And Bush from 9am yesterday and trespass notices against the Maloneys were put in the window.

By 6.30pm the bar had re-opened.

Business owner Mr Maloney said there had been an on-going dispute with the owner of the building.

"We have been locked in negotiations all day with the lawyers and we have reached a compromise. He's the landlord and I'm the tenant, so it was obviously some rent that was in dispute," Mr Maloney said last night.

The building is owned by Auckland-based company Egmont Investments Ltd and company director Richard Kennaway came to New Plymouth to serve the trespass notice.
