Rangatira E Trust have lodged for resource consent for stage one of a neighbourhood retail development to be known as Bluewaters @ Acacia Bay.

The trust owns 992 hectares of land that fronts Acacia Bay Rd, and has the potential for significant development opportunities.

Rangatira E chairman Alec Wilson says the trust engaged Retail Consulting Group Limited (RCG) to carry out a retail study of Taupo to establish the potential for retail growth and demand.

As a result, RCG had created a retail plan that reflected the immediate retail demand.

Retail Consulting Group chairman Paul Keane said the plan took into account the needs of the expanding Acacia Bay community, as well as the future growth in population.
