A new wealth management service focused on indigenous ethical investing has been launched by JMI Wealth.
JMI Wealth has partnered with Temuera Hall and Chris Winitana to provide investment management services with a unique Māori values-based approach.
Tahito is believed to be the world’s first ethical investment service based upon indigenous values.
“The initial investment offering by Tahito is a portfolio of New Zealand and Australian shares” Hall says. “We only select good businesses that align with our indigenous values, are well managed and show long term sustainable growth potential.”
“By using JMI Wealth’s investment skills and our proprietary indigenous values-based screening and selection process, we have developed a portfolio that we believe will not only perform well over the long term, but also recognises how important environmental and social considerations are.”
“We have developed a unique way of measuring companies using Māori ancestral knowledge” says co-founder Winitana. “The Māori indigenous framework behind Tahiti reconnects people to the environment, which will help to address challenges of climate change and environmental regeneration.”
Tahito will be initially made available to wholesale and professional investors, with a later release being considered for retail investors.
Tahito founder Temuera Hall, of Te Arawa, Tūwharetoa descent, has had a long term involvement in investment markets including the establishment of Iwi Investor. Chris Winitana of Tūhoe and Tūwharetoa descent advises on Māori cultural integrity and authenticity.
