It had been reported that negotiations with potential buyers had come to a halt.
AMP is looking to sell AMP Wealth Management New Zealand and AdviceFirst.
But Vernon said the intention was still to provide an update on that when AMP reports its first-half results. Things were progressing at a less rapid pace because of Covid-19 disruption.
"Everything is taking a bit more time at the moment."
