In a press release, Lockton Companies Australia says it's expanding its global business with the opening of Lockton Companies NZ Limited Partnership, initially based in Auckland, with plans for further expansion in other major cities across the North and South Islands.

Lockton's United States-based parent company is one of the world's largest independent insurance brokerage firms and has offices in the USA, UK, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Australia and South America.

Lockton Companies Australia chief executive Paul Marsden says the firm's New Zealand and Pacific business is underpinned by the recruitment of specialist and highly experienced New Zealand insurance broking professionals.

"The expansion into New Zealand was an obvious evolution of our business and in support of our growth in Australia and the need of our clients as they also continue to expand their businesses into New Zealand and the Pacific region," Marsden says.

“New Zealand and the Pacific region represents a significant investment and further expansion of our global reach and capabilities that will add value to our clients and grow our New Zealand and Pacific operation.

"We are delighted to recruit several industry-leading broking teams to spearhead our expansion and we look forward to providing the full strength of Lockton’s risk solutions capabilities to clients in New Zealand and the Pacific.”

Marsden says Lockton's Auckland office will be open from mid-September this year with further updates on who will be running the New Zealand operation coming at a later date.
