Clancy will lead Fidelity for six months whilst the board undertakes a search for a permanent chief executive.
Fidelity Life chair Brian Blake says the company’s board is highly confident Clancy will maintain the company’s transformation momentum.
“The board has worked closely with Ian in his current role of chief operating officer and has absolute confidence in his ability to guide Fidelity Life through the next six months. As COO he has had accountability for our enterprise transformation and has played a key role in progressing Fidelity Life’s customer led strategy over the two years that he has been with us.
“We’re delighted with Ian’s appointment and are looking forward to working with him in his new capacity over the coming months.”
Clancy is positioned well for the role with extensive leadership experience in financial services and has led major operations and transformation programmes in large organisations in NZ, Australia and the UK.
Melissa Cantell will step down on March 31, but will remain in the business during April to support a smooth transition to Ian. Her last day will be April 28.
