Former SHARE chief executive Tony Dench has been appointed as the interim chief executive at Financial Advice NZ following the resignation of Katrina Shanks.

He led the SHARE and Newpark group of financial advisers for five years until the end of 2022.

The association says in a statement, "the industry networks and extensive experience that Tony brings to Financial Advice NZ will allow the professional adviser body to maintain the direction and momentum that it has built up."

"This will keep it in good stead to continue to grow and support New Zealanders financial understanding, wealth, and wellbeing, and provides continuity of its member services prior to the appointment of a new CEO."

Dench is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and is currently an independent director of several privately owned companies.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead Financial Advice New Zealand for a short time as the association transitions to new leadership. I have been impressed with the support and leadership that it has shown to its members, to consumers and to the financial services sector.  I look forward to continuing to build on the great work that has been done so far.” Dench says.
