The overall fund manager of the year was NZX-owned Quay Street, which also won the KiwiSaver award.

Morningstar Australasia’s Director, Manager Research Michael Malseed said “2023 proved challenging for even the best investors – between the rate hiking cycle and the ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, it was a challenging year to navigate.”

Devon took out the domestic equities award with it trans-Tasman fund and fixed interest went to the Bentham Global Income (NZD)fund.

The international equities award was not be awarded again this year, as there were no eligible candidates demonstrating suitable achievement across Morningstar's award criteria.

Award finalists and winners are determined by a combination of research by Morningstar's manager research analysts; risk-adjusted medium- to long-term performance track records; and performance in the 2023 calendar year.

A well deserved win by Quay Street. Because of a combination of fees and past ownership, I have yet to support them, but have really enjoyed watching Quay Street building on their success.
David Buell’s monthly reports are just stunning, leaving everyone else for dead. Well done team.
