"Kiwis are becoming more financially savvy and are seeking investment options that support their long-term goals without the complexity of managing investments themselves. These new funds provide greater variety, strategic diversification, and access to expert fund managers," Generate chief executive Henry Tongue says.
Generate is creating new KiwiSaver versions of their Australasian and Thematic Funds, previously available only as managed funds.
"Investors in our Thematic Managed Fund have been asking to allocate part of their KiwiSaver investment to this strategy,” Tongue says. "Our members also told us they wanted more choice, so we listened. These new Generate KiwiSaver funds are all about giving them more options to invest in a way that suits their long-term goals.”
In addition, Generate is launching a new Global Fund for KiwiSaver investors. This high-growth, aggressive fund will invest in 40–50 equities across sectors and geographies, focusing on high-quality companies, strong growth opportunities, and undervalued equities, including well-known companies like Amazon and lesser-known companies such as Western Alliance Bancorp.
All three of the new Generate KiwiSaver funds have a 98% allocation to growth assets, making them higher risk investments. Generate cautions that they will not be suitable for everyone and are best suited for long-term investors who are comfortable experiencing market fluctuations in pursuit of higher potential returns. Generate recommends investors speak with an adviser to fully understand the risks before making any changes to their investment strategy.
New Managed Funds for More Flexibility
Generate is also expanding its managed fund offering with three new funds, providing investors with more options to diversify their portfolios in line with their risk appetite, investment timeframe, and financial goals.
The new managed funds include:
With these new funds, Generate continues to provide New Zealanders with more opportunities to grow their savings while benefiting from expert management. To help investors make informed decisions, Generate has a nationwide team of advisers who offer no-obligation advice, ensuring Kiwis can choose the fund that best aligns with their goals, risk appetite, and investment timeframe. Research shows that 67% of New Zealanders who received financial advice believe it saved them from making mistakes, while 41% regret not seeking advice sooner¹—highlighting the importance of receiving well-informed guidance when making investment decisions.
The new funds are not yet available for subscription and there is no regulated offer of interests in the funds at this time. These will be available from 30 April 2025.
