Macquarie New Zealand (Macquarie) has made three key financial adviser appointments to its financial services group.

Senior sharebrokers Kirsty Shiach and Ian Witters have joined Macquarie along with Greg Arnott, who joins Macquarie’s growing team of exchange traded options advisers.

- Witters (pictured) is an NZX associate broker who has been advising clients since 1996. He was previously involved in manufacturing and farming ventures and his personal business activities include responsibility for running the New Zealand Boat Show.

Shiach has been in the financial advising industry since 1983 and is a graduate of both Otago and Canterbury Universities. She has worked for a number of major broking firms in New Zealand and is an adviser on a full range of investments including New Zealand, Australian, UK and US share and fixed interest products.

Arnott has worked for a number of New Zealand and Australian broking firms over the last 10 years, and has particular experience in Australian shares and exchange traded options. His specialty is in helping clients derive supplementary income from their shares using options, which are an area that the NZX had earmarked for expansion as part of its plans to widen the range of securities choices available to New Zealanders.

The three appointments increase the size of Macquarie’s retail advisory operation in its Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch offices to 30 advisers and support staff. The company’s other activities, including funds management, equities research, institutional sharebroking and corporate advisory activities, are based in Auckland.
