He says the new role involves the promotion of MDRT to new and existing benefits, with the objective of increasing membership and attendance at the Annual MDRT meeting or the MDRT Experience.

"Over recent years NZ MDRT membership has decreased, for a number of reasons, however the benefits of MDRT are, in my mind, greater than ever.

"In a market now saturated with compliance MDRT is a fantastic association that offers a universe of sales tools to make us more successful in our field or expertise."

Solomon says MDRT intends to run a road show with international speakers in February 2012 and start regular MDRT regional meetings.

Solomon recently attended the Oceania MDRT meeting.

"At this meeting we shared the vision for MDRT Oceania and how as zone we intend to grow membership."

He says the big drive for MDRT Oceania is a planned charity walk through the Queen Charlotte track in November.

The purpose of the walk is three-fold.

Firstly, and most importantly, to raise funds for the Christchurch Earthquake appeal. The foundation has already made a large donation to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

"The walk is a way of our good mates across the Tasman showing their support to this appeal. NZ advisers, also have this opportunity by supporting the charity walk."

Secondly, he says, the walk is an ideal way to rub shoulders with some of Australia's top-performing advisers and share ideas and thoughts over three great days.

Thirdly, the walk is to encourage fitness as part of the Whole Person concept. The Queen Charlotte walk is regarded as one of the classic New Zealand walkways. The Queen Charlotte track is a long track, not a steep track.

To make this a success we need advisor support. Our fellow Australia MDRT members are committed to this walk and are communicating the walk throughout Australia. However, to make this work we need strong numbers from NZ.
