Financial Advice NZ committees appointed

Financial Advice NZ has announced the make-up of its subcommittees, which will represent different advice strands within the association.

Wednesday, January 10th 2018, 9:30AM 1 Comment

The association said the groups would give voice and representation to the specific sub-sectors.

Sue Brown, the chair and independent director of Financial Advice New Zealand’s establishment board, said the Member Advisory Committees will play an important role in helping to ensure that each sector has a meaningful voice and representation in the new association. “These committees are a crucial element of our focus on standards, advocacy and promotion of advice. Those in specialist advisory fields are working in a fast-developing environment, and these committees will provide an extra level of knowledge, expertise and support.”

The purpose of the committees is to represent and support Financial Advice New Zealand members “who share a particular special interest in a specialist area of advice and also to provide the Board with technical support".

A chair for each committee is yet to be appointed.

• Financial planning: David Mason, Charlene Overell, Paul Sewell and Nigel Tate.
• Investments: Joe Byrne, Michael Courtney, Tim Fairbrother and Liz Koh
• Lending: Suzanne Isherwood, Joel Oliver, Hamish Patel and Sandra Spence
• Risk Insurance: Bree Catterall, Cecilia Farrow, Peter Rickards and Regan Thomas

The committees have their first meeting at the beginning of next month.

I am curious to know how many of this Risk Committee hold the recognized risk qualification, Chartered Life Underwriter - CLU.
