Former AIA managing director Graeme Edwards left his role at the beginning of the month, after it was confirmed that AIA had completed its purchase of Sovereign from Commonwealth Bank.
Sovereign chief executive Nick Stanhope is now at the helm of both insurers.
He has brought much of the Sovereign team with him, including chief partnership insurance officer, distribution, Patrice de Marigny, and Len Elikhis as chief product officer.
David Savidan remains in his role as AIA’s chief marketing officer.
Other members of AIA’s new management team include Angela Busby, chief strategy officer, Kristy Redfern, general counsel and company secretary, Sharron-Moana Botica, chief customer officer, Brynlea Hunter-Morpeth, chief people and culture officer, Doune Connett, chief risk officer, Linda Page, chief financial officer and Shane Ohlin, chief technology officer.
AIA New Zealand and Sovereign will continue to operate under their respective brands for the immediate future and until a long-term brand strategy is announced. Both AIA and Sovereign will continue to sell their respective products in the near term.
Under the $4.15 billion deal AIA acquired CommInsure in Australia and Sovereign in New Zealand. AIA has entered a 20-year strategic distribution agreement with ASB.
