Newmarket's out of city control, say businesses

Auckland City Council does not have the regulatory tools to control urban and apartment development in Newmarket, says its business association.

Newmarket Business Association manager Robin Winter says the council is "behind the eight-ball and the pace of developers is faster than the council processes".

After consultation with the business and residential community, the council has drafted a document to guide development in the rapidly growing suburb, called the Newmarket's Future Framework.
