Businessman and former Member of Parliament Tutehounuku ‘Nuk’ Korako is now an independent director on the Consilium board.
“As Consilium has grown, we have always looked to appoint the highest quality senior people to the team including board directors," chairman Stephen Ambler says.
"Nuk’s business, political, board and community service experience will enrich the views around the table.”
Korako was a National Party List MP where he served as chairman of the Parliamentary Māori Affairs Select Committee and was the National Party spokesperson on Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations and Māori Development.
Currently, he is Kaihautū Māori for the Rātā Foundation, the South Island’s largest charity, and he chairs the Te Ihutai Ahuwhenua Trust.
Korako has held a number of senior board appointments including Director on Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and the Ngāi Tahu Holdings Board.
His governance experience also encompasses the Waitangi National Trust Board, the Rod Donald Environmental Trust and Cholmondeley Children’s Centre.
Ambler says Korako's governance credentials, align with Consilium's business vision and an increasing focus on socially responsible investment.
