Renée Tourell has been appointed chief executive.

Tourell has comprehensive experience as an executive in operations, client success management and performance optimisation from financial technology and services markets in London and New York. In her most recent role as MMC chief operating officer she was responsible for leveraging technology to deliver operational excellence of the business.

Prior to MMC, she was chief operating officer at law firm Meredith Connell and held senior client relationship management roles at Wolters Kluwer and Dealogic.

MMC has been rebranded and is now operating under the Apex Group New Zealand name.

Babic will leave the business at the end of next month. He joined the firm in 2020 to lead the strategic, commercial and operational direction of the business and succeeded in growing MMC to administer funds over $100 billion and more than 900,000 active investor portfolios, with around 100 clients relying on MMC to manage their investment administration.

“I am grateful to have had the opportunity to lead MMC and to grow and work with an incredible team and numerous clients," Babic says. "MMC is a unique New Zealand success story that will continue to go from strength to strength as part of the Apex Group."

Apex founder and chief executive, Peter Hughes, says "we look forward to working with Renée to drive continued growth in the New Zealand investment market, and the opportunities that Apex Group’s single-source solution will create for our clients to access new markets through our globally connected operating model.”
