Janes, has been a non-executive director of nib NZ since 2016, will takeover on March 1.

Janes has worked for more than two decades as a barrister (specialising in medico-legal, commercial and corporate law) and previously worked as a management consultant with Deloitte.

She has held appointments as counsel assisting the Gisborne Cervical Screening Ministerial Inquiry, the government enquiry into Mental Health and Addiction, and the Royal Commission of Enquiry into Abuse in Care. Janes also has a detailed knowledge of workplace health and safety.

Janes has also served as a non-executive director of ProCare Health Limited and member of the board of trustees of the ProCare Charitable Foundation.

Ryall, a former MP, retires after eight years as nib NZ chairman. He joined the nib NZ board as a Non-Executive Director in February 2015 and was appointed chairman in July 2016.

The appointment of a new New Zealand Chair reflects nib’s ongoing focus and commitment to orderly board renewal and succession planning.
