Chubb Life chief executive Gail Costa has decided it is time retire after 40 years in the life insurance industry.

She took over running Chubb Life (then called Cigna Life) in April 2018.

Prior to that she worked for Cigna in various roles offshore.

Chubb are keeping the announcement low key at the moment, however Costa is planning to leave in April next year which allows for a long transition and time to search for a replacement.

"We have initiated a transition plan to identify a successor who will continue our exceptional growth trajectory and ensure seamless business continuity for our customers, employees, business partners and other stakeholders," Chubb says in a statement.

Congratulations to a real icon who has risen to the top of the insurance industry both in NZ and internationally.

I had the pleasure of working with Gail over 20 years ago. She has been an achiever often below the radar but that does not mean she has not delivered for many customers.

Well done and best wishes to you and Vince.
