Bridgman will succeed Murray Jordan, who will step down as chair at the end of the year. Jordan will remain on the board until the end of March 2026 to ensure a smooth transition.
Bridgman is a corporate finance and strategic business advisor, and also an experienced independent director and trustee. He joined the Southern Cross Health Trust and Southern Cross Healthcare boards in January 2022.
"I'm honoured to be appointed Chair of Southern Cross Health Trust and Southern Cross Healthcare, New Zealand's largest independent healthcare network,” Bridgeman said.
“Through our work, we touch the lives of hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders every year and play an important role in supporting the overall health system. I'm excited to help Southern Cross Healthcare fulfil its vision of helping people live their best lives by reimagining healthcare.”
Southern Cross Healthcare chief executive Chris White said Bridgman's appointment ensures continuity and strong governance as the organisation continues delivering on its vision to provide New Zealanders with access to timely and affordable healthcare.
White acknowledged outgoing chair Murray Jordan for his outstanding leadership since joining the boards in 2019 and serving as chair since 2023.
