The global MDRT Foundation dished out nearly $78,000 to 11 New Zealand charities recently.

Tuesday, February 17th 2026, 12:14PM

Part of the MDRT philosophy is about giving and supporting people and communities.

The global adviser organisation runs the MDRT Foundation which has given out US$2.2 million in the past year to charities all around the world.

Its vision is: "To empower MDRT members to make a difference in their communities around the world."

New Zealand advisers nominated a number of charities as potential recipients this year and 11 were successful getting a total of $78,000.

MDRT country head Travis Hamilton says it's great to see New Zealand charities benefiting from this initiative.

"It's full credit to the New Zealand MDRT members who took the time to advocate and endorse a New Zealand charity close to their hearts for the foundation to award the grants to, and get funding for some amazing charities so New Zealanders will benefit."

The Foundation is funded by MDRT members including it annual "Gives Day".

"MDRT Gives Day is an online, one-day fundraising event that unites the MDRT community to give back."

The next MDRT Gives Day is March 25, 2026.

Some of the successful charities included this year were: Heart Kids NZ, Hearts & Minds NZ, Predator Free NZ Trust, Taimahi Trust, Life Education Trust, Garden to Table Trust, Pet Refuge, Refugees as Survivors NZ (RASNZ), Upstream Trust and MoneyTime Trust.

In 2025 the Foundation made 461 grants totalling US$2.2 million spread across 36 countries.
