Paul Turnbull is Salt's new CIO. He brings extensive financial markets knowledge to Salt with more than 21 years’ experience as a research analyst and head of research in New Zealand and Australia. He has achieved recognition for his efforts on both sides of the Tasman with INFINZ awards for his analytical skills at First NZ Capital and as a key part of the Fund Manager of the Year finalist investment team of JCP Investment Partners in 2009 (winner), 2010 and 2011.
Head of Data Science Stephanie Mitchell specialist technical areas include computational modelling using machine learning techniques, analysis of complex mathematical problems and the interpretation and visualisation of data. Her skills in the development of data analytics models utilising her mathematical and programming skills are an exciting addition to the Salt investment team, Harrison says.
She has a PhD in Space Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and a Master of Engineering from the University of Auckland. She has three papers published in peer-reviewed journals, holds a US patent for novel technologies developed during her PhD and was a mentor in the Woman mentoring Women program at Caltech and represented the department at the 2014 MIT Women in Aerospace Symposium, Cambridge MA.
"Paul and Stephanie’s skills and experience will be a key part of Salt’s investment in the future of funds management in New Zealand,” Harrison says.
