NZ has a ‘once-in-a-generation’ chance to reshape retirement
New Retirement Commissioner David Boyle says New Zealand is approaching a major reset of retirement policy and wants KiwiSaver and NZ Super considered together. He also sees a bigger role for financial advisers and technology in improving New Zealanders’ financial wellbeing.
New Retirement Commissioner David Boyle believes New Zealand has a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity to reshape retirement policy – and says KiwiSaver and NZ Super need to be considered together.
Speaking to GRTV following his appointment, Boyle says retirement income policy, KiwiSaver and the cost of providing NZ Super are converging at a time when change appears increasingly likely.
“I think there is a great opportunity – let's just say a once-in-a-generation chance – to really make a difference that then gives confidence for New Zealanders' future planning for their retirement needs.”
