nib foundation joins Clearhead partnership with former All Black

Kiwi digital mental health company Clearhead has released more resources to provide better support for Māori, in partnership with nib foundation.

Monday, September 27th 2021, 2:08PM

The new mental health resources will offer more culturally relevant mental health support for at-risk communities and along with former All Black and Clearhead ambassador, Nehe Milner-Skudder, hopes to encourage more conversations about mental health across Māori communities.

Milner-Skudder shares details of his mental health journey and the tips and strategies that helped him overcome his struggles – including the importance of reaching out to others for support.

Clearhead chief executive Dr Angela Lim says that while Māori populations are consistently over-represented in Kiwi suicide statistics and are twice as likely to experience mental health issues than non-Māori, most of the resources available in New Zealand are not designed to address these inequities.

Milner-Skudder says he’s proud to lend his support to the cause and hopes that by sharing his story more Kiwis in particular, more Māori, will feel more comfortable to reach out when in need.

The nib foundation was created in 2008 as an independent charitable trust and has committed over $23 million in grant funding to deliver practical health programmes.
