Deepak Gupta, former head of equities for Royal & SunAlliance Asset Management, is a new director at AMP Private Capital.
"Deepak's strong analytical abilities an his extensive network of contacts within the New Zealand market place make him a natural for private capital," AMPAM head of private capital Martin Turner says.
Gupta is to take a particular interest in identifying partnering opportunities within applied technology companies. Rather than investing with dot.com companies, AMP Private Capital and its technology joint venture Caltech Capital Partners have a stong focus on applied technology companies who are preparing for future growth.

Recent investments in the applied technology area include IBS and Netlogic with more expected over the next six months.
Gupta will also be working with AMP Private Capital's other two joint venture partners Pencarrow Private Equity and Direct Capital Partners.
