ASB's Ralph Norris to retire

The managing director of ASB Bank and ASB Group, Ralph Norris, has announced his intention to retire at the end of September.

Norris has worked for the bank for 32 years, 10 years as managing director. "Regrettably from the Bank's perspective, he has decided that the time has come to reduce his executive commitments" ASB Chairman Gary Judd said.

His successor as managing director will be Mr Hugh Burrett. Burrett is currently chief operating officer of ASB Bank Ltd and ASB Group Ltd/ Like Norris, Burrett has been with the bank for many years. Prior to becoming chief operating officer he was general manger, sales and service.

Norris will also retire as head of international financial services for the Commonwealth Bank. He has been invited and agreed to be retained as a consultant to the Group's CEO David Murray.
