New strategist at BNZ

BNZ Investment Management has appointed Geoff Mason as manager - investment strategy.

Mason brings to the position more than 15 years experience as a macroeconomic advisor to both public and private sector organisations. He joins BNZ Investment Management from the international financial markets section of the Reserve Bank of Australia, an area responsible for managing US$20 billion of foreign reserves.

Prior to that Mason was head of market economics at Bank of New Zealand, providing economic, interest rate and foreign exchange advice to portfolio risk managers within the New Zealand markets division, and to the bank's balance sheet management unit.
