The volume of sales of Auckland homes worth more than $1 million continues to break record levels. The 162 sold in the three months ended October marked the fifth consecutive quarterly increase in numbers, according to Bayleys Research.
The October quarter transactions worth $244 million compares with 149 in the three months ended July and 133 in the three months before that. The number in each of the last three quarters have been records.
It notes that sales of $1 million plus houses numbered between 150 and 250 a year between 1997 and 2000 and that it wasn’t until 2001 that the annual volume of sales got close to 300.
"The 400 and 500 barrier has also been breached over the 12 months to October 2002 with 540 sales recorded," Bayleys says.
