Sec Comm adds staff

Thursday, December 30th 2010, 5:00AM

The Commission has made a number of staff appointments over the last two months.

Joining the Markets Supervision team are Justin Smith, senior investigator, and investigator Philip Ballie. Balllie and Smith bring a wide range of investigation experience, both within New Zealand and overseas. Existing staff member Michelle Peden was promoted to Manager, Forensic Accounting within the team.

There have also been two recent additions to the Financial Advisers team. Nicky Won is a senior solicitor based in the Commission's Auckland office. She will be assisting with operational policy development and legal guidance relating to the financial adviser regulation. Law graduate Teresa Levy is a public assistance and investigations adviser, who has most recently been managing public complaints and undertaking investigations for the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.

Nicole Henwood joined the Commission's legal team recently and comes to the Commission from an Auckland-based law firm where she gained experience in commercial and property law.
