Friday, June 22nd 2012, 7:09AM

Tama Willis is returning to NZ after a very successful career overseas in London and more recently Singapore and is joining Devon to concentrate on Australian stock research and will transition into managing Devon's Australian Fund.

Willis has been overseas for the last 14 years. His most recent role has been in Singapore where he was Senior Vice President, Natural Resources at one of the world's leading sovereign wealth funds, Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. In this role he covered global resource stocks including a particular focus on Australia.

Prior to that he was at Fidelity in London as a Senior Analyst, Commodities and Large Cap Metals and Mining. He was Team Leader of nine analysts in the Natural Resources sector and was ranked numner one and number two buy-side mining analyst in the European surveys over consecutive years.

Willis ran Fidelity's in-house metals, mining, utilities and energy pilot fund which enjoyed exceptionally strong returns during his tenure. In earlier roles  Willis spent nine years at Deutsche Bank, London most latterly as Director, Head of European Metal and Mining Research and prior to this as a research analyst at UBS Warburg, London.

Devon managing director Paul Glass says the firm has one of the largest and most experienced Australasian equity teams in the New Zealand market and Willis' appointment will further enhance its research and investment capability.
