ANZ Wealth has made a swathe of analyst appointments.

by Susan Edmunds

Ray Jack has been appointed as a credit analyst in the fixed interest team.

He has a background in equities and Graham Ansell, ANZ’s general manager of investment management, said Jack would be able to bring those skills into his new role.

Mia Prkusic, who has been with ANZ since coming through its graduate programme, takes on the role of fixed interest analyst. Ansell said she was one exam away from completing a CFA qualification.

In its equities team it has appointed Daria Murray as a senior equity analyst.

She has come to New Zealand from the UK, and spent the past six months at NZ Super Fund.

As part of the wider team, reporting to ANZ’s New Zealand-based head of Australasian Research John Middleton,  Australia-based Justin Phillips and Des Tao have been appointed as equity analysts.

ANZ is still looking to fill the role of Australian equity portfolio manager based in Sydney but reporting to Mark Brown, Australasian head of equities, based in Auckland.

Ansell said the decision had been made to move the direct management of Australian equities and fixed interest to New Zealand.

“We have responsibility for Australian fixed interest and equities managed here in New Zealand. Only the equity team will have representation in Australia. Fixed interest will be managed all out of New Zealand.”

Other responsibilities such as asset allocation and manager selection are still handled in Australia.

“The idea is that there is a consistent framework for all of our investment approaches across ANZ New Zealand, Australia and Asia.”

He said it was a “thumbs up” for the New Zealand team’s track record.
