While AMPI won't comment on the matter it is understood Patterson was dismissed for breaching internal personal trading policies.
Patterson was with AMPI for about three years and he has 10 years investment experience.
His role at AMPI was listed as transacting deals in the physical and derivative markets as well as managing equity portfolios.
Previous positions included currency trading and sharebroking.
