Guardian Funds in award-winning shape

Guardian Trust's funds just keep getting nominated and keep on winning awards. Of course 2006 was no different to any previous year. Guardian Trust was very pleased with their performance in the 2006 FundSource New Zealand Managed Funds Industry Awards when they came out as a two times winner as well as a runner up within the sector awards.

Wednesday, April 11th 2007, 4:36PM
The following Guardian Trust Funds were formally recognised on their strengths within their respective fund sectors:

WINNER: Guardian Small Companies Fund - NZ Equity (Australasian) sector

WINNER: Guardian Global Equity Fund - International Equity sector

RUNNER UP: Guardian CashPlus Fund - NZ Cash sector

As you know, they don't just give these awards away to any old fund either. In order to be nominated for a sector award, funds must first pass an exhaustive qualitative screening process. Should it manage to get through the first stage, the fund's performance is then carefully scrutinised. If they don't measure up, then there are no nominees put forward within the category and subsequently no winners. It's as simple as that.

Guardian Trust view this as a truly excellent achievement and one they are duly proud of as a company. They are right up there with the big players in the asset management industry!

A little bit on Guardian Trust's managed funds
Guardian Trust are both investment managers in their own right, as well as providing investors with access to Tyndall Investment Management's expertise. Guardian Trust offer a full range of managed funds, from an on-call cash management account through to equity and property funds.

Guardian Trust has been in the business of helping clients secure their wealth for 125 years and in fact they celebrate their 125th anniversary this year. The Guardian Trust brand is one which is respected and trusted throughout New Zealand. Many clients feel a sense of comfort in knowing that their money is in experienced hands. This may be especially relevant to the more cautious investors out there who may be looking to invest in equities for the first time and would appreciate the feeling of security that investing with a recognised company, known for its prudent and sound practices, brings.

Of course, Guardian Trust also offer funds that may be attractive to the more sophisticated investor. The award winning Guardian Small Companies Fund would be of particular interest for those investors seeking access to a fund which provides modest income along with potential for capital growth. The Fund provides investors with exposure to “small cap” stocks with income and capital growth potential in New Zealand and Australia. A clear advantage of the Guardian Small Companies Fund is that it is structured so that no single holding can exceed more than 10% of the total fund, meaning that the fund is not over exposed to any one stock. The fund is also diversified across a number of different industry sectors.

For those investors wanting exposure to international investments, the Guardian Global Equity Fund will have appeal. This fund invests within a number of geographical sectors, including North America, Japan and the Pacific Basin, which helps to provide the fund with a good level of diversification. The portfolio is 100% allocated to one active stock picking manager, Capital International Inc. US domiciled Capital International is one of the world's largest and most successful managers.

And for any investors simply after a convenient home for their 'rainy day' funds, Guardian CashPlus Fund is worth a look. The much awarded Guardian CashPlus Fund makes an excellent choice for those who want easy access to their funds, but still require their money to work for them. The Fund provides investors with consistent returns through selective exposure to quality short-term investments and mortgages.

Guardian Trust offer a diverse range of investment funds and it might just be worth your while taking the time to check them out:
