Harbour adds to fixed interest team

Harbour Asset Management has appointed a new fixed interest investment analyst to replace Declan McKeefry.

Friday, May 18th 2018, 3:22PM

George Henderson is joining Harbour Asset Management at the beginning of July, as Investment Analyst – Fixed Interest Portfolio Management.

He has spent 11 years at Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) in London, including nine years as a portfolio manager for a range of global fixed interest funds with a similar investment philosophy and process as Harbour.  Henderson started his career in Sydney as a support consultant at InTech Asset Consulting (now Ibbotson Associates, a subsidiary of Morningstar).

Henderson will join the Harbour fixed interest business, which has expanded in recent years, and currently manages more than $1.3 bill across a range of strategies spanning short duration, corporate bonds, active core NZ fixed interest, and diversified income strategies.

He replaces Declan McKeefry, who left to go on his OE.

The appointment of Henderson is part of Harbour’s wider strategy of providing clients with a range of well-resourced, research-focused fixed interest services, covering macro and rates research, duration management, credit research, quantitative analytics, and risk management.

He joins the existing fixed interest investment team of Christian Hawkesby (Head of Fixed Interest & Economics), Mark Brown (Portfolio Manager) and Simon Pannett (Research Analyst, Credit).

Henderson is a CFA Charterholder and graduated with a Master of Business Studies (Finance) from the University of Otago.  Since returning from London, he has spent some time managing the family farm in the Hawke’s Bay.
