Trustees Executors makes key appointments

Trustees Executors chief executive Ryan Bessemer has announced two appointments to the executive team.

Wednesday, June 6th 2018, 2:25PM

Matthew Band is the new General Manager, Governance and Investor Oversight (GIO), and Paul Waaka is TEL’s new Head of Business Development.

“The collective knowledge, expertise and experience that both Matt and Paul bring to the company, further strengthens our client and service offering,” Bessemer said.

Band’s long history with TEL began in 1998 when he worked in Custody as a Relationship Manager. He left the company in 2003 to expand his knowledge in the London financial markets before returning in 2005 as a business manager.

More recently as Senior Client Manager, Band has played a critical role in helping clients navigate recent legislative changes. His depth of knowledge and unique client focus has made this appointment a natural progression as he steps up to the challenge of leading the GIO team into the future.

Waaka joins TEL from Equity Trustees, and prior to that AAS which is part of the Link Group of Companies. He has an extensive background in business development and building key client relationships. Coupled with his significant experience in financial administration, Waaka’s skill sets will further enhance TEL’s Securities Services offering, which is a current area of growth for the company.

He will be based in the Wellington office with TEL’s team of relationship managers and will be in the Auckland office frequently to meet with clients.

“We believe these appointments reinforce our commitment to developing TEL’s GIO and Securities Services businesses, nurture key client relationships and enhance service standards,” Mr Bessemer said. "It’s important that we continue to focus on strengthening our relationships as well as our attention on new opportunities. I am looking forward to these leaders bringing their diverse expertise to their respective roles across our business” he said.
