Banks increase mortgage rates
WestpacTrust Bank and the Bank of New Zealand put up floating mortgage rates yesterday, with other big banks expected to move next week.

WestpacTrust's increase from 7.75 percent to 8 percent announced yesterday morning was followed late in the day by Bank of New Zealand lifting its rate to 7.99 percent.
