New subdivision alarms residents

A proposed 39-section residential subdivision along the scenic Barrytown coast has angered residents.

The proposal is to develop an area of deer pasture on Golden Sands Road, at the southern end of the Barrytown Flats on the way to Punakaiki.

Grey District Council confirmed it had received many complaints from residents concerned at the impact a cluster of 39 houses would have on their rural outlook.
