Leaky home owners set up national group
The owner of a leaky home is setting up a national support group to help others in his position and to lobby for more government action.

Aucklander David Probine has been forced to spend more than $200,000 fixing up his 11-year-old home. He bought the plaster-clad timber-framed house five years ago and discovered a variety of weathertightness problems, including a lack of proper flashings and framing that needed replacing because water had got in.When he realised the extent of the problems he went looking for help from others in a similar situation, he said. But no such groups existed and the government Weathertight Homes Resolution Service did not provide that type of help.
"We want to provide support because people feel so overwhelmed when they first find out ... At the moment everybody is working in isolation."
