In total, 109 houses sold in Northland in October (September 2008:104; October 2007:162). The median price rose to $336,000 from $297,500 in September (October 2007: $310,000).

7 houses sold in the Whangarei County area (September 2008:19; October 2007:20). The median price jumped to $850,000 from $ $375,000 in September (October 2007: $376,500).

45 houses sold in Whangarei City in October, down on the 51 sold in September (October 2007:89). The median was up at $336,000 (September 2008: $275,000; October 2007: $305,000).

Auckland
The median house price in Auckland increased to $433,000 in October, from $420,000 in September (October 2007:$445,000). 1,371 houses sold in October, compared with 1,425 sold in September (October 2007:2,240).

The median sale price for a North Shore City home eased slightly to $505,000 in October. (September 2008: $508,500; October 2007: $545,000). 249 houses sold during the month, three more than the 246 sold in September; October 2007: 331).

Sales volume was down in Waitakere City in October with 173 sold (September 2008: 184; October 2007: 340).  The median price rose to $390,000 (September 2008: $360,000; October 2007: $365,500).

The median price for an Auckland City house increased to $472,000 in October (September 2008: $450,000 and October 2007: $479,000). 465 houses sold in October, down from 469 September (October 2007:778).

281 houses sold in Manukau City in October (September 2008:298; October 2007:483). The median price  was up at $416,000 from  $397,000 in September (October 2007: $447,000).

Sales increased in Papakura with 50 houses sold (September 2008:47; October 2007:63).The median price also increased to $301,000 (September 2008: $293,500; October 2007: $342,000).

The median price for a Metropolitan Auckland house rose to $439,250 in October, up from $425,000 in September (October 2007: $445,000). 1,218 houses sold (September 2008:1,244; October 2007:1,995).

77 houses sold in Rodney District, down on the 97 sold in September (October 2007:133). The median price also dropped to $435,000, down from $440,000 in September (October 2007: $475,000).

The median price for a Franklin District home rose slightly to $367,500, in October, from $365,000 in September (October 2007: $380,500).
30 houses sold in Thames/Coromandel in October, two less than the 32 sold in September (October 2007:34). The median price increased to $370,000 from $349,000 in September (October 2007: $370,000).

The median price for an Outer Auckland home slipped back to $400,000 in October, from $405,000 in September (October 2007: $438,000). 153 houses sold, down from the 181 sold in September (October 2007:245).

Waikato/Bay of Plenty/Gisborne
The median price for a house in the Waikato/Bay of Plenty/Gisborne region eased up slightly to $315,000 in October (September 2008: $314,350; October 2007:$329,000). 678 houses sold, up on the 632 sold in September 2008 (October 2007:1,016).

Sales were up two in Waikato Country in October with 110 houses sold (September 2008: 108; October 2007:206). The median price eased to $250,000 (September 2008: $253,500; October 2007: $250,000).

The median price for a Hamilton City house increased to $343,000 in October, from $330,000 in September (October 2007: $342,500). Sales volume was up, with 194 houses sold in October 2008 (September 2008: 168; October 2007: 244).

Sales volume was up in Western Bay of Plenty Country with 47 houses sold, an increase on the 37 sold in September. The median price was also up at $360,000 from $344, 000 in September. In October 2007, 61 houses sold with a median sale price of $395,000.

The median price for a house in Mt Maunganui/Papamoa fell to $398,750 in October, from $412,500 in September (October 2007: $387,500). 52 houses sold, down on the 56 sold in September 2008 (October 2007: 106).

95 houses sold in Tauranga in October, down from the 100 sold in September (October 2007:118). The median price rose to $340,000, up from $334,350 in September (October 2007: $406,000).

Rotorua’s median price was down to $250,000 in October, from $257,500 in September (October 2007: $248,500). 65 houses sold, up on the 60 sold in September (October 2007:113).  

24 houses sold in Taupo in October, a decrease on the 26 sold in September (October 2007:45). The median price fell from $419,000 in September to $351,000 in October (October 2007: $355,000).

The median price for a King Country home dipped to $159,500 in October (September 2008: $175,000;
October 2007: $153,000). 11 houses sold, up from the 9 sold in September (October 2007:22).

The median price for a Gisborne City home rose to $225,000 from $215,000 in September (October 2007: $283,500). 33 houses sold, a decrease from the 37 sold in September (October 2007:42).

Two houses sold in Gisborne Country in October (September 2008: three; October 2007:three). The median price was $202,500 compared to $280,000 in March 2008 (October 2007: $207,000).

The median price for a house in Eastern Bay of Plenty Country increased to $318,000 in October, up from $270,000 in September (October 2007: $290,500). 45 houses sold, up on the 28 sold in September.56 sold in October last year.

Hawke's Bay
Sales volume was down in the Hawke's Bay in October with 122 houses sold (September 2008:144; September 2007: 260). The median price eased to $264,000 (September 2008: $271,742; October 2007: $262,000).

The median price for a house in Napier City reached $284,150 in October (September 2008: $282,500; October 2007: $272,900). 47 houses sold in October (September 2008:42; October 2007:113).

51 houses sold in Hastings City in October 2008, down from 68 in September 2008 (October 2007:103).  The median price was up at $265,000 from $255,500 in September (October 2007: $289,500).

Hawke's Bay Country’s median price fell to $265,000 in October, from $360,000 in September (October 2007: $282,500), with five homes sold in October (September 2008: 18; October 2007:16).

Manawatu/Wanganui
The median price for a house in the Manawatu/Wanganui districts increased to $230,000 in October (September 2008: $225,000; October 2007: $233,250). 245 houses sold in October, up  on the 234 sold in September (October 2007:342).

The median sales price for a house in Palmerston North City eased to $279,000 in October. (September 2008: $282,000; October 2007: $315,000). 115 houses sold (September 2008:92; October 2007:142).

Sales eased in Manawatu Country with 21 houses sold (September 2008:24; October 2007:26). The median price fell to $189,000 from $202,500 in September (October 2007: $226,500).

The median price in the Manawatu increased slightly to $249,000 in October (September 2008: $245,000; October 2007: $275,000). 194 houses sold (September 2008:170; October 2007:235).

35 houses sold in Wanganui City in October, down from the 43 sold in September (October 2007:75). The median price increased to $175 from $172,500 in September (October 2007: $175,000).
The median sale price in Wanganui eased slightly to $170,000 in October, down from $171,250 in September (October 2007: $175,000). 51 houses sold, a decrease on 64 sold in September 2008 (October 2007:107).

Taranaki
The median price for a house in Taranaki rose to $285,000 in October (September 2008: $256,583; October 2007:$262,250). 145 houses sold, down on the 158 sold in September (October 2007:188).

19 houses sold in the Taranaki Country area in October (September 2008:20; October 2007:29). The median price rose to $250,000 from $226,500 in September (October 2007: $238,500).

The median sale price for a New Plymouth City house increased to $302,000 (September 2008: $281,000; October 2007: $294,000). 79 houses sold in October (September 2008: 81; October 2007:90).

Wellington
Wellington’s median price rose to $369,000 in October, from $350,000 in September (October 2007: $365,000). 489 houses sold, compared with 491 sold in September (October 2007:759).

36 houses sold in the Wairarapa in October (September 2008: 31; October 2007:92). The median price was up at $254,000 from $225,000 in September (October 2007: $238,500).

The median price for an Upper Hutt house rose to $330,000 (September 2008: $285,000; October 2007:$340,000). 53 houses sold, up on the 47 sold in September (October 2007:73).

101 houses sold in the Hutt Valley (September 2008: 97; October 2007:145). The median price rose slightly to $320,000 from $316,700 in September 2008 (October 2007: $310,000).

The median price for a house in Otaki/Paekakariki increased to $346,000 in October (September 2008: $295,000; October 2007: $352,500). 72 houses sold (September 2008:83; October 2007:114).

52 houses sold in Pukerua Bay/Tawa in October, two less than the 54 sales in September (October 2007:90). The median price increased to $365,250 from $359,000 in September (October 2007: $380,000).

Sales numbers in Central Wellington dipped to 38 from 43 in September 2008. (October 2007:65). The median price eased upwards to $391,500, from $390,000 in September (October 2007: $378,000).

Nelson/Marlborough
The median price for a Nelson/Marlborough house was increased to $325,000 in October (September 2008:$320,000; October 2007: $347,000) 158 houses sold (September 2008:219; October 2007:297).

51 houses sold in Nelson City in October (September 2008:76; October 2007:105). The median price dipped to $315,000 from $333,500 in September (October 2008: $372,500)

The median price for a Nelson Council zone house decreased to $328,500 in October (September 2008: $333,500; October 2007: $350,000). 95 houses sold (September 2008:134; October 2007:187).

63 houses sold in Marlborough in October (September 2008:85; October 2007:110). The median price increased to $320,000 from $300,000 in September (October 2007:$340,000).

Canterbury/Westland
Sales volume increased in Canterbury/Westland with 740 houses sold in October (September 2008:677; October 2007:918). The median rose slightly to $292,000 from $290,000 in September (October 2007: $310,000).

The median price for a house in Christchurch City eased to $310,000 in October, from $312,250 in September (October 2007: $330,000). 489 houses sold (September 2008:436; October 2007:597).

The median price for a home in Rangiora eased to $295,000 in October (September 2008: $296,750; October 2007: $345,000). 37 houses sold, up on the 32 in September 2008. October 2007:43).

The median price for a North Canterbury house rose to $310,000 in October, from $233,000 in September (October 2007: $347,500). Nine houses sold, down on the 15 sold in September (October 2007:27).

The median price for a Canterbury Country home dropped to $350,000 in October, from $375,000 in September (October 2007: $371,000). 39 houses sold (September 2008: 38; October 2007:38).

29 houses sold in Mid Canterbury in October (September 2008:45; October 2007:42). The median price rose to $265,000 from $251,800 in September and $261,500 in October 2007.

Sales increased in Timaru in October, with 53 houses sold (September 2008: 40; October 2007:67). The median price dropped back to $243,000 in October, from $252,500 in September (October 2007: $225,000).

The median price for a house on the West Coast increased to $202,000 in October from $175,000 in September (October 2007: $216,000). 28 houses sold, down on the 30 sold in September (October 2007:45).  

251 houses sold in Outer Canterbury in October (September 2008: 241; October 2007:321). The median price was down slightly at $252,000 in October from $255,000 in September (October 2007: $270,000).


Central Otago Lakes
79 houses sold in October, up on the 70 sold in September (October 2007: 126). The median price eased to $475,000 in October, from $480,000 in September (October 2007: $545,000).

The median price for a house in Central Otago remained steady at $395,000 in October (September 2008: $395,000; October 2007: $445,000). 39 houses sold (September 2008: 29; October 2007:55).

Sales volume eased in Queenstown with 40 houses sold in October, one less than the 41 sold in September (October 2007:71). The median price was down at $500,000 (September 2008: $520,000; October 2007: $614,000).

Otago
201 houses sold in Otago in October, down from 232 in September (October 2007:331). The median price increased to $230,000 from $221,500 in September (October 2007: $235,000).

Sales volume was up two in North Otago with 26 houses sold (September 2008: 24; October 2007:38). The median price rose slightly to $221,500 from $200,000 in September (October 2007: $216,500).

The median price in Dunedin City increased to $240,000 in October from $230,000 in September (October 2007:$240,000). 157 houses sold (September 2008: 190; October 2007:264).

The number of sales was up one in South Otago with 15 houses sold (September 2008: 14; October 2007:25). The median price rose to $140,000 from $125,150 in September (October 2007: $135,000).

Three houses sold in East Otago in October, with a median price of $122,000 compared with four sales in September with a median of $164,000). (October 2007: four with median $211,000).

Southland
Sales volume increased in Southland with 132 houses sold (September 2008: 113; October 2007:215). The median price increased to $198,500 from $187,000 in September (October 2007: $186,000).

Sales volume rose slightly in Invercargill, up one in October to 86 (September 2008: 85; October 2007:143) The median price dipped to $188,750 (September 2008 $200,000; October 2007: $195,000).

The median price for a house in Gore increased to $182,500 October from $150,000 in September (October 2007: $120,000). 22 houses sold during the month, up on the 15 sold in September 2008.
