Sir Brian Lochore remembered by financial advisers

It's not just the rugby world who are mourning the passing of All Black legend Sir Brian Lochore.

Sir Brian Lochore

Lochore was regularly a speaker at financial adviser events organised by ING (now ANZ).

Former ING managing director Paul Fyfe says Lochore worked with ING speaking to advisers and clients.

"We never had a problem filling the hall as people wanted to hear and see him," he recalls. "He was a legend in New Zealand and beyond."

"He would stay on to speak with attendees well after the presentation finished and was pretty much the last to leave."

Lochore talked about the need for teamwork in all we do.

"He was one of the finest New Zealanders I have ever met," Fyfe says.

"I am all the better for knowing him."

Mint Asset Management marketing manager David Boyle was a business development manager with ING at the time.

"He was one of the nicest guys I ever worked with. I loved the times we spent speaking together in those days. He was articulate, intelligent, thoughtful and funny. Just one of the all time great guys and an incredible loss to New Zealand not just for his rugby."

Fellow BDM, Trisha Edmonds, too has similar fond memories of Lochore. She says he was a very humble man with an extremely strong handshake.

She says Lochore used to speak about the value of teamwork and reminded people to always pass on their learnings to others.

The mana of the man was clearly evident when he walked into a room.
