UniMed welcomes new board member

New Zealand specialist health and wellbeing insurer, UniMed, has appointed a new director.

Monday, September 5th 2022, 2:00PM

Angela Dixon will be joining the board in November ahead of the organisation’s annual meeting.

She has an extensive career spanning both public and private sectors, Dixon brings direct insurance, finance, and technology experience gained through executive leadership and governance roles within New Zealand and the UK.

Since returning to New Zealand in 2007, Dixon has undertaken several notable executive posts, including chief financial and information officer of Public Trust and most recently CFO of Synlait Milk, before moving on to pursue a governance career.

The appointment comes at a time of strategic enhancement for the organisation, which has a strong 40-year history of providing health and wellbeing plans to New Zealand businesses and their employees. Dixon will pick up the baton from long-serving Board member Tim McGuiness, who retires at the annual eeting following nine years of service.

“We are delighted to welcome Angela to the UniMed Board and benefit from the extensive experience and knowledge she brings to the table,” chair Jane Huria says.

“Angela stood out to us with her strong financial and commercial acumen, understanding of the insurance sector, and background in significant technology transformation projects. This collective experience, combined with Angela’s personal commitment to driving positive outcomes for more New Zealanders, makes her an exceptional fit for our board.”

“At the same time as we welcome Angela to our organisation, we sadly farewell Tim, who has been a valued member of our board since 2013. Tim has been integral throughout his time with UniMed. As chair of the audit and risk committee, he has ensured sound financial integrity and controls, always with our society’s members’ best interests at heart.
