Fidelity appoints new regulatory head

Fidelity Life has added a head of regulatory affairs who will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with regulators, policy makers and industry bodies.

Tuesday, March 7th 2023, 11:53AM

The life company has poached Sam Kelly from ASB to head up its new regulatory role.

Kelly has more than 11 years experience in the financial services sector - most recently with ASB, and has a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment and strong government and industry relationships.

Prior to ABS Kelly worked at Sovereign (now AIA) as a solicitor and in management roles providing him with a sound understanding of the life insurance sector and the nuanced challenges the industry faces.

Fidelity Life chief risk officer Adrian Riminton says Kelly will be a significant asset for the business as it continues to deliver a customer-led transformation and navigate regulatory change.

“It’s a significant role that will help build trust and ensure we’re here for the long term good of New Zealanders, so we’re delighted to welcome him to the team.”
